March 25, 1941 ~ September 4, 2024 (age 83)
Vesta Bergin, 83, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully at LuNa House in Nampa on the evening of Wednesday, September 4th. She was born in Cloquet, Minnesota on March 25th, 1941, to Donald Burcalow and Ruth Burcalow (nee Angell). Vesta was raised and schooled in Cloquet and upon graduating, worked at Northwest Paper Company. She met and married Gerald Hoy in 1962 and had two sons, Eric Hoy and Carl Hoy. In 1979, they moved from Cloquet to Lewiston, Idaho. Vesta and Gerald divorced in 1985, and Vesta moved to Boise, Idaho where she married John Bergin in 1991.
She worked for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare until she retired in 2002. She loved to quilt and made many wonderful pieces for friends and family. She was very active in VFW Post 63. She was a lovely person and will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
She is survived by her sister Donna Burcalow of Cloquet, her children Eric Hoy and his four children, Carl (Donna) Hoy and their daughter, five nieces, and two nephews. Through her marriage to John, she is also survived by stepchildren Niki (G.D.) Mathews, Martin (Debbie) Bergin, John Kevin Bergin, Jeffrey Bergin, Steven (Rhonda) Bergin, Paul (Nory) Bergin, eleven grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Craig (Shelley) Burcalow.
Vesta will be inurned with John at a graveside service at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 11:00am on Monday, September 30th, 2024. Condolences may be received at Cloverdale Funeral Home.
